Seaworld - Aquatica

Aquatica waterpark is located right next door to Seaworld as part of the Busch parks experience. You can get Aquatica as part of a Busch Gardens or Seaworld park ticket combo, which makes good sense if you want to save on the standard entry rate.

We went to Aquatica as one of our slip days off as it is not as hectic as trawling around the main Disney or Universal parks. Aquatica is designed around an Australian beach resort theme and everywhere you look great detail has gone into making your experience as near to being on the beach as possible (right down to the large beach area for sunbathing). As a stocking filler day, Aquatica is just as good if not better than Disney waterpark.

Some of the rides at Aquatica include Hoo-Hoo Run, Walhalla Wave, Tassies Twisters, Dolphin Plunge, Roas Rapids, Omaka Rocka & taumata Racer. There are many smaller rides, but these are the biggest ones.

We arrived at the park around 9. 30am and the queues to get in were short and we had no trouble getting into the park pretty quickly. When we arrived we already had our ticket so managed to get straight in and reserve a sunlounger by the large sandy beach area. We did notice the park fill up rather quickly around 10am, so was very pleased to have got in early.

As you can expect the park has its favourite rides and some of these have larger queues than others. Some of the most popular rides include Dolphin Plunge and Hoo-Hoo run. Both these had 30 min queue times. Most of the other rides having around 10 – 20 minute wait.

Our favourite ride was Walhalla Wave, this is a large ring type ride where you cascade down a large tube into a big pool of water at the bottom. You get up a fair rate of knots when you get going and as there are 4 people per ring you really do have a great laugh. Next door is the Hoo-Hoo Run and this is similar to the Walhalla Wave, but with no turns. This means by the time you get to the water at the bottom you are really rocking!

If you are after a really lazy day, there are plenty of sunloungers and places to sunbath. When we went the weather was very good and we all came away with a nice bit of colour. You can also catch rays while riding the lazy river on a large rubber ring. As it was hot this was a really good option.

Overall I would really rate Aquatica as a stocking filler day where you might want to go out, but don’t want the full on experience of Disney and Universal. Ensure you get the best value and add to your Busch or Seaworld Ticket to get in for around $20 instead of the $35 entry gate price.
