Sea World

When looking to book tickets for your stay in Orlando you tend to spend a long time working out which parks to visit to help you choose what to do during your time in Orlando. For me Sea World has always been a great day out and a definite must for all people when visiting Orlando. Now the park has upgraded and added more rides it only increases its appeal.

What sets Seaworld apart from a lot of the other parks is it really does cater for the whole family (from the very young to the older adults), there really is something for everyone. As the park is also so accessible from all the accommodation, around 20 minutes drive from the US 27 and Championsgate areas this also adds to the amount of people who visit on an annual basis.

For the younger children there is the SHAMU show which has SHAMU and his friends perform a 20 minute routine to music and lights, with lots of interaction from each of the special whale trainers. For those that enjoy getting wet (and many children do) then why not sit in the front 15 rows (or Splash Zone) to experience the main force SHAMU. We have sat in both areas and have to say the best experience has to be sat within the Splash Zone, just don’t wear your jeans as these stay wet for pretty much the whole day! On top of this there are dolphin shows, sea lions and many more sea creatures to watch. For the younger ones there are many opportunities for them to learn about sea life and there are many areas where they can ask questions and learn for themselves. Seaworld also run many conservation programs and show people how they look after some endangered species.

The park itself is very easy to navigate as it is all set around a large lake area and tall tower which overlooks the lake. One thing I would say is to use the map and work your way around the shows. If you do not plan you can spend a lot of hours going backwards and forwards to the different events.

For the adults there are 2 main rollercoasters, KRAKEN and MANTA. Both are regarded as some of the best rides in Florida. KRAKEN is fast and tall rollercoaster that is designed around big fast inversions and uses speed and G-force to give the ride its edge. MANTA on the other had is much smoother and fires riders along in the horizontal position. Out of the 2 the older KRAKEN just edges it for me, but it is a close call and if you can get on the front of the MANTA you would probably disagree. Both rides are very quiet and even in peak times the queue time is no more than 20 minutes for KRAKEN and 30 minutes for MANTA. Out of season I have been know to ride the KRAKEN 4 or 5 times without even getting off!

For a different day out and a place where the whole family is catered for Seaworld does take some beating. If you combine your ticket with Busch Gardens you can save money and enjoy both parks (as they are owned by the same company). Overall I would rate Seaworld as one of the top attractions to visit when you are planning your holiday.
