Sea World - Best Day Out

I love this place, when we go here it is one the most relaxing days I have when on holiday in Orlando.

The best attraction within the park, are without a doubt the Manatees (Sea Cows easy to see why they called this), they move so grace full and look has if they have no worries in the world, which they do not except for Man. A chilling video presentation on the destruction that Man does to their habitat is worrying and precedes the viewing of these wonderful creatures in their exhibition.

For great fun at the touch pool you can stroke and if your feeling brave feed Stingrays, this is brilliant however a word warning do not have your camera draped around your neck as this can land up dunked in the tank, causing the batteries to melt and thus ruin your camera and film or so I been told……….it wasn’t me honest.

Terrors of the Deep is a walk through tubes that holds back a giant tank containing sharks, moray eels and barracudas. We timed our visit here so when we came out we could take in the Clyde and Seamore Take Treasure Island, great fun sea lions, an otter and a walrus plus a couple humans who take all the punches/slaps and are there to poke fun at, great show, very funny. Afterwards we went to Pacific point preserve a recreated habitat for seals and sea lions, with attendants on hand to provide informative talks.

In the middle of the day we rode “Journey to Atlantis” which is an awesome ride, however one word of warning you do not get wet…………no soak to the skin is more like it, the drop and then the finale is great fun. And being the middle of the afternoon was nice and refreshing. From here you go into the Sea Aquarium Gallery which combines a gift shop with an aquarium full sharks, stringrays and tropical fish.

The Shamu Stadium is where you will see the great killer whale show, words can not do it justice seeing this creatures in the water their grace and silky movements are a wonder to behold, the tricks they perform with their trainers are spectacular. Also very much taking the time to see Shamu: Close-up this found opposite the stadium and allows you a much closer and natural view of Killer Whales behaving naturally.

The dolphin show at “The Key West Splash Fest” was great fun and very funny, with the dolphins upstaging their human trainers time and time again.

In fact the only part of the park I did not enjoy, and will not visit again is “Wild Arctic” this is suppose to give the illusion that you have been transported to an artic wilderness, where you will found polar bears, Beluga whales and walruses, but they looked so cramp in the exhibits and in fact the walruses looked sad, it was quite a surprised to see. It seemed to be how zoo’s were in the old days with little or no consideration given to the animals well being.

With the exception of Wild Artic I would recommend this day to everyone.
