Sandy Ridge
The first thing that will hit you when you drive into the Sandy Ridge sub-division is the multitude of colours the villas are painted in, coming from the UK this is something you are not going to be used to seeing. You feel straight away that this is an unusual place, you can sense you are near to Disney and the anticipation winds up another notch, you know it’s only a matter of time before you’ll be enjoying the full force of the Disney Parks just 10 minutes away.
Continuing to drive along Sandy Ridge you’ll notice the children’s play area with slide, swings and sand pit, a relaxing place to sit and allow the younger ones to let off a bit of steam, either on a day off from visiting the parks or maybe take an evening stroll to get them from under Mums feet while she prepares the evening meal, all can be enjoyed free of charge.
You’ll also get the feeling of being out in the countryside, even though your only 10 minutes from Disney, Sandy Ridge is surrounded by conservation woodland, you’ll notice that most of the villas back onto conservation areas with some other villas overlooking lakes.
All Sandy Ridge villas have screened pools, some with spas, if your kids are anything like ours, one of the first things they will want to do on arrival is dive into the pool, especially if it’s July or August time.
I always recommend taking a rest day from the Parks, they can be very tiring, just sit out on the decking soaking up the Sun, cool drink by your side, kids enjoying themselves in the pool, see if you can detect the faint toot-toot of the railway engine that runs around the area, it feels strangely comforting to hear it.
Another must see sight on Sandy Ridge is, if your lucky enough to be holidaying around May time, after a hard day at the Parks you’ll probably come home in the late evening, take a soak in the spa and you maybe treated to the Fireflies magical display of flashing lights, you will be amazed and feel really privileged to have seen it. They rest on plants and trees during the day and fly around between dusk and midnight.
Every family needs to eat and you’ll find the Champions Gate complex less than 3 minutes down the road, besides having a Greg Norman designed golf course it also boasts a number of restaurants, retail outlets and supermarkets in the area, there is also a petrol station and cash machines. This is an expanding area and new shops are opening monthly.
Have a great time on Sandy Ridge, I know you will, it’s in the perfect spot.
