Rollercoasters in Florida
When you go to holiday in Florida one of the main attractions must be the theme parks and all the great attractions on offer. When I first visited Florida many years ago we were a little overwhelmed with all the attractions and the size of some of the parks, all crammed with rollercoasters.
Over the years Florida has seen massive investment in their theme parks and especially the rides they offer. Now it seems most parks have to have a rollercoaster or two! Whether you are after fast, twists, stand up, sit down, water, Florida seems to have every type of rollercoaster you could ever wish for.
Some of the newer park (Islands of adventure) and (Busch Gardens) tend to be the more popular with the rollercoaster fanatics. Islands of Adventure which is owned by Universal is classed as one of the best parks in the world. Not to be outdone Busch Gardens has just added another few rides to keep people coming back for more.
In Islands of Adventure you have rides like THE HULK, a green beast that catapults you to 65mph before leaving the first tunnel! After this it twist and corkscrews along what seems like forever, until coming to stop some 3 minutes later. On the other side of the park is the DUELLING DRAGONS, a double rollercoaster which has either a red or blue track. This is a bottomless ride that uses 2 totally different tracks to twist and turn you round. This is my favorite ride as you can experience 2 totally different rides in one.
Seaworld has recently added the ride the KRACKEN to its rides. This ride is one of the fastest in Florida reaching speeds of 70mph plus. Where this differs from most rides is you stand up throughout the ride, instead of sitting down. This really does give a totally different experience to most rides I have been on.
Disneys best rollercoaster is probably the ROCKIN ROLLERCOASTER at Hollywood Studios. This ride is in the dark and is designed around the band Aerosmith. On this ride you are thrown through more loops and corkscrews than any other ride in Florida (all inside and to the beats of Aerosmith).
Another great place is Busch Gardens. Here you will find the KUMBA, MONTU and their newest ride the SHEIKRA, a vertical drop into oblivion. This ride is really worth the entrance fee alone. Just make sure you get there early in the morning to get the best of the park.
With so many rides on offer, Florida really does offer the rollercoaster nuts a great time. It truly is the worlds best attraction.
