Review Of Mannys Chophouse
Anyone who regularly visits the Orlando Villas Forums;
http://www. orlando-guide. info/forums/ will know that Manny’s is a great favourite with villa owners and guests alike. It is Orlando’s best or worst kept secret depending on your point of view!
Manny’s is situated on US27 south in Haines City, just past the Southern Dunes sub division on the right. Look for the Manny’s chophouse sign on an elevated pole, just after you have passed through the lights at Commerce Ave.
To the uninitiated, first impressions are of something none too special, don’t be mislead! Go early, by 4pm, or call ahead on 863 422 3910. If not, be prepared for a wait of 2 hours or more!
Happy hour is 4 – 7pm daily but there are restrictions on what’s available and there is an early bird menu for those seated by 6pm, this applies Monday to Thursday holidays excepted. Kids eat free Monday and Tuesday off the kids stuff menu and this is limited to two kids ten and under per adult purchasing a full price entrée. Every Wednesday except on holidays fajitas are buy one get one free!
There is a bar which gets extremely crowded, but nowhere much to wait and customers tend to congregate just outside the entrance once the bar area is full. There are no beepers to tell you when your table is ready but there is a tannoy system, you will need to listen for your party’s name being called.
The menu is extensive and as you would imagine there is a heavy emphasis on meat, steaks, chops, burgers and ribs, but chicken and fish are also featured on the menu. Sadly there is not much for vegetarians.
When making your selections be aware portions are huge and are accompanied by Manny’s endless salad bowl and hot rolls with whipped cinnamon butter.
Not a lover of salad, Manny’s is for me the one exception, greens, tomatoes, onions, cheese, croutons and whole jalapeno peppers in a tangy dressing, mixed at your table by the server. Add to this, hot, sweet yeast rolls, fresh from the oven and spread with the delicious cinnamon butter and you almost don’t need an appetizer, but if you do we can recommend the coconut shrimp, stuffed potato skins or the baked shrimp and lump crabmeat au gratin. Don’t try to eat one on your own, there is plenty to share!
For your entrée you cannot go far wrong with a melt in the mouth steak, cooked to your liking and served with a loaded baked potato, chophouse fries or garlic mash, to name but a few of the large selection of accompaniments.
If you have room for dessert then well done! There is a choice of the traditional US desserts, including, Chocolate Brownie, New York Cheesecake, or Key Lime Pie. Or why not simply choose one or two scoops of ice cream from a choice of flavours.
Whatever you choose, I can promise you one thing, you won’t be disappointed!
