Red Lobster
I have for the last few years wanted to try out the Red Lobster but always was out voted by the family because as they said ‘they don’t want just seafood’! Having read various comments on the Orlando Forum about good places to eat I noticed that the Red Lobster had been given good recommendations and so decided to try it out.
There are many Red Lobsters situated in the Orlando area and we tried out the one at Lake Buena Vista opposite the entrance to Disney World. Fantastic!
The place itself was very clean and had very helpful servers and surprisingly there was no wait at all for a table, although we were in the middle of a thunderstorm and it was Sunday evening. There was a nice easy going atmosphere and a good assortment of drinks / cocktails. I can thoroughly recommend the Long Island Iced Tea (Top Shelf), very refreshing. The server went through all the various menus and ‘fish of the day’ offers. The menu although mainly covering ‘seafood’ had alternatives including steak, chicken and pasta.
The starters looked very appetising but we have learnt as a family not to order starters as the main meal and the extras you are served normally are quite enough for our appetites.
When ordering our various meals which were two seafood ones, one chicken and one steak we were offered salads and side orders with the meal.
The salads came first and were very nice along with the house speciality, cheese biscuits, which actually look and taste very similar to cheese scones and these were served warm – delicious.
The main meals were very well presented with an ample amount of side orders accompanying them. The rice with the salmon and king prawn skewers was particularly good. The seafood platter included an assortment of different seafood including crab cakes, shrimp and cod teamed with a side order. The steak was a big success with my teenage son and the chicken was enjoyed by my teenage daughter.
Although we normally do not have desserts we were tempted by the look of the chocolate wave put together with cream and ice-cream and ordered two. The ample servings meant all four of us had to have some in order to make the most of it!
All in all the meal was a success and we can all recommend the Red Lobster – even if you are not a fan of seafood. We will certainly be visiting again in the near future.
