Planet Hollywood at DownTown Disney
Here is my review for Planet Hollywood at Downtown Disney May 2007
I chose this restaurant because the giant globe it is situated in always looks great on the telly.
As fate would have it when we arrive some structural exterior building work is in progress and so the giant blue globe is more a giant blue cube!
I did not let this deter me and hurried up the stairs as we were hungry! (as per usual ? )
It was early evening and although busy we were seated almost instantly. There’s plenty to look at apart from the menu (and waitresses! ) as props & costumes from various Hollywood movies litter the walls and ceilings. I also notice additional seating at different levels going up into the globe, I presume you must book early to get those seats and look down on the poor minions below. Probably just as well we did not get seated higher as the temptation to “drop” just a little something would be too much; I am sure with a little practise I could get a French fry straight on a noisy child’s head.
Being a bit boring we both order the same dish chicken fajitas and skip the starters as we know we won’t be able to eat it all. Our UK stomachs are just too small for Florida meals; though sometimes we cram a dessert in…
Our server tells us it won’t take long as they are cooked very quickly.
They arrive about 45 seconds later! , and are definitely very fresh and just cooked, sizzling away.
Can this be a record for delivery of food to a table? We both scoff the lot. Having said that I should imagine it is quite hard to get chicken fajita’s wrong apart from over (or under) cooking the chicken. Doesn’t one chicken fajita taste the same as another? or is the field of fajita tasting just eluding me? ?
The waitress was almost as quick as the food with dishes cleared, more drinks arriving, all within seconds.
The whole restaurant definitely has a family feel to it and certainly is designed to appeal to children. The menu reflects this with the usual chicken, steak, pizza and pasta dishes we’d come to recognize whilst in the US.
The overall bill including wine was around US$40. This represented good value; though the entire meal was not exceptional it was certainly memorable if not for the food but the ninja fast service! ?
