PLACES TO EAT AT ANIMAL KINGDOM
On our first visit to Animal Kingdom our initial reaction was that there were not that many places to eat. However we have since revised our opinion and I have given details in this guide.
Flame Tree Barbeque
I feel this is the best counter service restaurant that we have been to in the whole of Walt Disney World. The aroma of the food as you pass by (or attempt to pass by! )
draws you into the restaurant. Try to get seated overlooking the lake.
We have eaten both lunch and dinner here. When we went for lunch I had the Pork BBQ sandwich and the girls had the salad with BBQ Chicken both were delicious. We had got seats overlooking the lake and the girls were so excited to see the boat with Pluto, Goofy and Minnie go by.
We had the dinner late and it was quite and so lovely to sit and relax away from the crowds. You would have had to see the onion rings and tasted them to understand how good they were, the baked beans had a great BBQ taste and the chicken was really good.
Donald’s Breakfastosaurus
The day we went here it was starting to rain so it was very crowded, but the hostesses appeared to have it under control.
The buffet had great selection of food. Sausage, bacon, hash browns, pancakes, biscuits, quiche, pastries, fresh fruit, cereal, etc. , etc. Lots to choose from and something to make every member of the family happy.
Our waitress explained the procedures of how things worked before the characters arrived. We were able to get great pictures of the girls with Donald, Pluto, Goofy and Mickey.
Pizzafari
There is a good selection of foods here along with plenty of tables and air conditioning. When we visited it was a very hot day and we were so grateful for the air con.
I had the hot Italian style sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. One of the girls had a cheese pizza and the other a caeser salad. We finished with chocolate mousse before venturing back out into the heat.
Rainforest Café
I would really recommend this to anybody looking for a fun time at Disney. There’ s some good food as well as cold drinks and the atmosphere is really fun although somewhat loud. It is a little pricey.
I opted for a Caesar Salad whilst the girls ate every bite of their shrimp and chicken lunches. You must finish with a Volcano sundae, this has to be seen to be believed but yes we did finish it!
Restaurantosaurus
The counter service here is good and if you want McDonalds or McDonald style food this is the place for you.
Tusker House
This can be found in Africa and offers very good counter service. I had vegetable pita that was good whilst Granddad had the fish of the day with rice, which he said was a nice change to the burgers and sandwiches available at most counter services. The girls enjoyed their Chicken and Mash.
Royal Anandapur Tea Company
We have not had a drink here but if you want a sit down for tea or coffee you can get them here.
Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery
If you enjoy a nice pastry, this is the place. Either you can take it to go or sit on one of the Tusker tables as it is in the same building. Friends of ours have had a light breakfast here and even call in at the end of the day to collect rolls for the following days breakfast.
You will see from reading this guide that our initial reaction that there were not many places to eat in Animal Kingdom was wrong.
