Pirates of the Caribbean gets a Lift!
As many regular Disney watchers and visitors will know, the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in Walt Disney World has been closed since March 2006 to allow the “Imagineers” at Disney to enhance this classic with new characters, special effects (how exciting) and a few other surprises based on the films. The newly enhanced attraction is due to re-open in time for the newest Pirates movie release which is apparently due to be on July 7th 2006!!
On this date, visitors will find that new characters have joined the wildest crew that ever sacked the Spanish Main, as Captain Jack Sparrow and Barbossa add a new twist to the attractions original storyline! It should be remembered that the original attraction inspired the hugely successful first “Pirates” film, which in turn further inspired the people behind the enhancements currently taking place!
Reading numerous snippets on the up and coming “NEW” Pirates attraction update, it would seem that the aim is to add an exciting chapter for the attraction and an unforgettable experience for the attraction visitors. This re-opened and enhanced classic will no doubt give WDW guests another reason to go enjoy the current 50th Anniversary celebrations that are taking place across all the Walt Disney parks!!
Clearly, this was a favourite family attraction anyway, and for my family, the film just brought the attraction to life even more! What, it would appear we have to look forward to this summer, with the re-launch, is new characters and importantly the incorporation of new technology which will ensure the attractions relevance and place in Magic Kingdom as a timeless adventure!
Clearly, many young visitors to this attraction, may in fact have seen the films before they even get to go on the ride, so all the planned inclusion of characters, and these more up to date technologies bringing the experience more to life, will mean the attraction has more connection with the films!!
I understand they will be including in the attraction, the Davy Jones effect, a mysterious and ghostly character. Guests will sail through a misty, sort of spiritual presence, as they plunge through a ‘waterfall’. On reading the word ‘plunge’, while all the other enhancements I have read excite me, this one concerns me a little. I am NOT renowned for my keenness to plunge anywhere! So, I will need to check with a cast member to be sure it is ok for me to ride, I certainly hope so, I am looking forward to the opening. I know for some, they prefer not to know what is about to happen, but I am afraid I do like to have a fairly good idea what scary things may befall me before I attempt a ride, that way I know if it is for me or not!!
I am jealous, all the same of those visitors, who will get to be the first to see this attraction in July 06!!! Drink up me hearties, ho ho ho!
