Panera Bread
If you are looking for somewhere for lunch that does not include burgers, pizzas, chicken nuggets or fries, then Panera Bread is the place for you. There are a good few of them opening up now all over Orlando and the surrounding areas. They have wi-fi connection for lap tops and tablets, and electric power points too for re-charging.
Panera Bread sell a wide selection of wonderful home made soups such as, broccoli and cheese, tomato (made from fresh tomatoes), vegetable and pesto, chicken noodle soup or french onion soup. These come in either a cup or for a larger portion, a bowl. It is served with a large hunk of proper french bread and is truly a delight. They also have a large selection of toasted sandwiches and offer a “special” of toasted cheese and ham with tomato soup and french bread but you could ask for any toasted sandwich of your choice and a soup of your choice.
Other options are toasted paninis, fresh made sandwiches and salads of many differing sizes. All you have to do is line up and order from either a menu or all the offerings which are on a board running above and along the serving area. You will be given your drinks and an audible alert machine. This will buzz and flash lights when your order is ready and you go up to the counter to receive your meal.
They have the usual array of sodas and iced tea but the coffee is serve yourself from large machines. They have different flavours such as Hazelnut, decaf or ordinary. You can take refills from these machines as often as you wish. All the milks and sugars are in the same place.
Apart from lunches, they have a wonderful array of cakes. Cinnamon buns, danish pastries, fruit cake slices, muffins, chocolate brownies, cookies, shortbread and many more. So you might want to go just for coffee and a cake in the morning or afternoon.
They have a separate counter selling full size cakes, gateaux and loaves of bread or bread rolls all freshly made. At this counter you can order just coffee and a small cake to take away.
The nice I thing about Panera Bread is that they have outside tables with sun umbrellas which makes such a change from eating in freezing cold, air conditioned restaurants. It has a very European feel about it.
