OVERNIGHT TRIPS FROM ORLANDO (GULF COAST)
So are you looking to escape the buzz for a day or two, and want to venture a little further than Clearwater Beach on the Gulf Coast or the Atlantic coast resorts like Daytona Beach for more than just a day trip?
There are endless possibilities for an over night trip. If you just fancy a day trip have a look at the article DAY TRIPS FROM ORLANDO or if infact you are looking for something a bit more than an overnighter check out the article ROADTRIPS FROM ORLANDO.
Folks often ask, where is the best place to head for a couple of days relaxation? If you only have a couple of days to spare there are still plenty of nice places to visit and stay overnight.
I personally would recommend the Gulf Coast resorts such as Fort Myers Beach where you will find a lively mix of young and old enjoying the resort. It’s a typical beach resort with lots of surf and beach shops plus restaurants and bars of course.
I would not recommend Spring break though as it is very lively as the youngsters let their hair down a little noisily. Although it is still easy enough to find a room in the resort at this time! This resort itself is suitable for families with children of all ages including teens or just couples/adults as there is plenty to do for everyone and still has the buzz!
Another place to take into consideration is Naples. This is much more up market with fine dining and lots of nice restaurants and bars along the hub which is known as 5th Avenue. Naples is maybe more suited to adults than families with children as they may be kicking their heels after the buzz back north in Orlando.
However there is a great beach and as well as the fine dining there are the normal chains as well including the Cheesecake Factory.
You also have the likes of Sarasotta which again is a really nice place to visit for a couple of days and maybe explore somewhere like Siesta Keys where the rich and famous have homes. The city has a nice marina and is well worth a wander after diner to walk of your meal and have a nosey at the boats.
There is a lot of history and a little culture even in Sarasota. Plus if you fancy a day at the races, there is a dog track,
As you are heading further into Southern Florida you will notice the temperature is a little higher than in Orlando, it’s normally about 2 degrees higher in the likes of Fort Myers but of course you do sometimes get the breeze coming in from the Gulf of Mexico.
So have whet you appetite? If so why not have a look at ROADTRIPS FROM ORLANDO where we venture even further south into the Everglades and down to the Keys.
