Outta Control Magic Comedy Show
If you want something a bit different to fill a spare night, try the Outta Control Magic Comedy Show at Wonderworks on International Drive.
Showing nightly at 6pm, occasionally another performance at 8pm (and very occasional matinees), this is a treat for adults and children alike. It costs $31. 99 + tax for adults and $21. 99 + tax for children and seniors.
There is plenty of parking in the multi-storey car park next door.
We visited in January 2018, at a 6pm performance. You are directed to queue up in the cafeteria area, and it wasn’t a great start. And when the doors opened and we were shown to our seats, it still wasn’t a great start. The room was a cross between an industrial unit and a staff canteen, with long tables - strictly no frills! We thought “oh, this is not going to be good”. But we were wrong!
Once seated, the servers came round, taking our drinks orders. Beer, wine, soft drinks (Pepsi products) were all included in the price, and unlimited. Next came a pleasant salad, and pizza. The pizzas were half cheese and half pepperoni, and they kept coming. The other two people who were sharing with us did not like pepperoni either, so the server kept taking the pepperoni halves away and bringing us fresh pizza. At the end, we had a sort of Brownie as dessert. It was all basic but nice and fresh.
Just as the meal was ending, the Magic show began. Our Magician was Tony Brent, the main magician who plays five nights a week. Other magicians fill in the other two nights, TC Tahoe, Nathan Coe Marsh, Jimmy Rook and Scott Hurston. However, we had been recommended to see Tony Brent.
This guy modelled himself on Tommy Cooper, was very silly, loved laughing at his own jokes, but you found yourself laughing too. He was well into audience participation, getting both adults and children to help him with the tricks. It was very entertaining, and the tricks were very clever. However, the finale was jaw-dropping! If you go and he finishes with a trick that involves a lemon - you are in for a treat! That is all I am going to reveal!
After the show, you come out to an area of I-Drive called Pointe Orlando and there are lots of bars, clubs, shops, restaurants and a cinema within walking distance if you want to extend the evening.
I can recommend this experience. It is fun, different and inexpensive. Try it.
