Our Last Visit to Islands of Adventure Part 1
As we visit our villa at least once a year, and my parents who are retired have the luxury of going twice, we tend to have multi day passes for all the Parks. When the girls were younger we tended to spend the majority of our days at Universal Studios but as they are now teenagers we tend to spend an increasing amount of time at Islands of Adventure. Last time we went because of time restrictions we only managed to spend half a day there.
The path leading to the entrance to the Islands always tends to be quieter than Universal and if you are thirsty there is a nice bar area on your right for cold drinks, they have quite a long Happy Hour in the afternoon for beers and certain cocktails.
As you enter the Park you go through the Ports of Entry and you pass by several shops. If you have time have a look at the hats in the Trading Company. Be careful though if you are constrained by time you can spend some time here as you all try on the many different hats and have your photo taken, it is unusual to see so many Bob Marleys in one place!
Amongst the shops you will also see a stall where you can get cold drinks which are very welcome on a hot day.
There is a display board near the beginning of the Park which displays the wait times for rides and attractions. These can be quite lengthy and like all Parks you are best to visit Islands of Adventure as near to opening time as possible or stay as late as you can preferably until closing time.
On your left as you enter is Marvel Super Hero Island where you can go if you are brave enough on the Incredible Hulk Coaster. Although there was quite a wait on our last visit the girls really wanted to go on this so we decided that they could queue for this whilst we had a wander round the Park and had something to eat.
After much debate we decided to go to the Lost Continent and eat at the Fire Eaters Grill that had been recommended by guests that had stayed at our villa and we were not disappointed. The outside of the restaurant is most impressive and the food though simple was very good. It is counter service with mainly chicken and you can eat outside. We settled for Chicken Stingers and Chicken Fingers both of which came with fries.
