Our Last Visit to Islands of Adenture Part 2
After enjoying chicken and fries at the Fire Eaters Grill the adults in our party went over to look at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This attraction opened recently on some vacant land plus some land previously home to a part of the Lost Continent.
Ever since this has opened the waits for it have been the longest I have ever seen at a Theme Park. I think to ensure you get into the attraction which is supposed to be very good is to visit Islands of Adventure in the quieter months and be there when the Park opens. The bit we could see from outside looked very impressive and apparently the attraction includes the Forbidden Forest, Hogsmeade and Hogwarts Castle.
We then went back to the Lost Continent which I find most fascinating as it really comes in three sections. These are ancient Greek ruins, a medieval English village and a North African bazaar.
We usually spend some time going around the ruins as there is so much to see, look out for the faces and carvings in the rocks as well as Neptune’s Trident.
In this area you will also find the Duelling Dragons where there is understandably a height restriction of 54inches. These are two coasters I think you can choose which one you go on and they travel towards each other at high speed narrowly missing each other at the last moment.
We did not have enough time on our last visit but the Poseidon’s adventure is well worth going to see. You go into the ruins of the temple of Poseidon and get trapped under the water with lots of lasers, explosions and fire it is a good spectacle. The shop as you exit the attraction is worth looking at with toys and snow globes that can make nice presents.
Younger ones will enjoy the Flying Unicorn which is a coaster for children over 36inches although those between 36 and 48 inches must be accompanied by an adult.
Everyone can enjoy the Eight Voyage of Sinbad although you may have to queue for some time. It tells the adventure of Sinbad and his friend when they go to rescue Princess Amoral from an evil witch, it is very entertaining.
We then left the Lost Continent and went to collect the girls who were very exhilarated after their ride on the Incredible Hulk which they said was well worth the wait.
After a short but very enjoyable visit to Islands of Adventure we went out of the Park towards City Walk to se if we could get dining reservations for that evening.
