Our First Ever Visit to Florida - Part 13
So now we are all pretty hungry and pretty tired from a very long day and flight all the way from the United Kingdom, we step outside our air-conditioned hotel room it’s around seven in the evening and it is still so hot!
We had been abroad a number of times before but this heat and humidity were a little more than we expected but we were all dressed for it in our shorts and tee shirts and in truth, we wore nothing else all holiday.
We knock on my sister’s door to see if they were ready they said they weren’t and would be ten minutes or so yet so we said we were going to walk back to reception to ask about getting the river taxi into Downtown.
We set off through the pretty streets of Port Orleans heading to the reception, walking was a great way to see a little more of the pretty buildings of the hotel, it was surprising how good they looked they had lots of little details they had obviously followed a theme set out by the designer that was ways ahead of the UK hotel industry.
This was to be something we came to realise is the Disney way all the hotels are themed and are very individual, all are very well constructed and although clearly, we were not in New Orleans it very much had the feel of the French quarter to it.
We got to the reception and once again were greeted by a happy smiling face of a receptionist, can I help you? she asked, yes were are wanting to get something to eat after our long flight today and wondered about if we should go to downtown Disney for something do you think that would be suitable for the kids.
Oh yes, she replied there are a number of great restaurants down there that would be suitable for the children, in fact, all the restaurants cater for children as this is Disney so I am sure you will be able to find something you all like.
You can get the river taxi from Port Orleans it is free to guests and then she proceeded to give us the directions to the landing area where we could find the river taxi, she gave us a little map of the resort and one of Downtown Disney
