Our First Ever Visit to Florida - Part 11
We all in the van all buckled up and ready to go, I ask if we got some quarters because it said in the guidebook that Alamo gave us we will need to small change for the tolls on the road quarters and dollar bills.
Here we go my wife gives me the loose change and we drive to the exit booth where they check our paperwork and scan a barcode on the vans windshield “come over all American there “ I meant windscreen the barrier lifts and were off.
I always find driving abroad pretty stressful I know it takes my wife a while to get back into it and to acclimatise so I just try to keep quiet and help with the directions and the toll payments, soon where on the beeline it goes a little dark and starts to rain, time to put your lights on its law in Florida that if it rains you must put your lights on.
Soon we're at our first toll booth this one is manned so we pull up and give them the set fee and we are through, a check on the little map that we were given by Alamo shows us were heading in the right direction.
The kids are really excited now even though they’re getting tired we pass signs for Disney they all point and are really excited look day it says “the Magic Kingdom” look look look they shout we not quite sure where we are I think we have taken a wrong turn somewhere but as we drive along we see signs for many of the Disney parks and Disney hotels and resorts that until now we have only seen in brochures and on the TV, just the driving around is exciting enough especially for the kids.
We are on World drive now and where are passing the big sign and entrance to Typhoon Lagoon, there are lots of Disney Buses travelling around everywhere we know we must be getting close, soon were are on Epcot Centre drive and just a little further up the road we can see the sign for Disney Port Orleans Resort which is where we're going to stay.
We turned to enter Port Orleans stopped at the barrier and showed the security officer our paperwork he let us through and we parked up and enter the reception area now we really had arrived! !
