Orlando Theme parks with small children
We have been travelling to Orlando with our daughter since she was 3 months old.
On her first visit to Magic Kingdom she was 15 months old and not yet walking. She had a wonderful time and enjoyed seeing the shows, parades and all the characters. We had lunch at the Crystal Palace where she met all the Whinnie the Pooh Characters; she was very excited but a little scared when they got really close but waved to them as they left.
The restaurant ensures that all of the tables get to see the characters and it offers a wide selection of food buffet style for both children and adults. We were lucky enough to get a table without booking but I would highly recommend making a reservation in advance to save you waiting in line.
That same year we also visited Sea World. Jessica especially liked the Manatee and Penguins and had a lovely time playing in the park with the sand and other children. We couldn’t get her to leave.
All the shows are fantastic but her favourite seemed to be Blue Horizons with the dolphins and very colourful parrots. She also loved The Believe show with Shamu but after such a long and busy day I am afraid she didn’t stay awake for the end! ! !
On our last trip in May 2009, Jessica was just over 3. We visited Hollywood Studios. As with most 3-year-old girls she loves anything to do with Disney Princesses and there are lots to see here.
We watched The Voyage of the Little mermaid which is a short musical version on the movie on stage, Play House Disney Live on Stage which includes lots of characters like Handy Manny and The Little Einstein’s as well as Mickey, Minnie, and the Whinnie the pooh Characters.
We also saw the Live Beauty and the Beast show and enjoyed the Toy Story Mania ride where you have to shoot at the targets. It’s great fun but very popular so get a fast pass for this one. All the shows are great and the Block Party Bash Parade is very entertaining.
The Honey I shrank the kids Movie Set adventure is a fantastic park with very large bugs and a good way to get the little ones running around. But best of all is the Fantasmic show, which starts around 9. 00pm. Mickey and friends play out a story with the help of dancing water, dramatic music, lasers and fireworks. It really is a fantastic show and Jessica loved it. She was nearly asleep before it started but she soon woke up.
By far Hollywood studios is one of the best parks for small children and if you can manage to keep them awake until 9pm then you won’t be disappointed.
