Orlando on a Budget
Orlando is the fun capital of the world and a visit can be expensive, especially if you are visiting as a family. Nevertheless, you can make your visit value for money and there are many ways that you can reduce the cost and you may find that it is a lot more affordable than you first thought.
AccommodationThe first golden rule is “villa, villa, villa”. Villa accommodation is exceptionally good value and will be far less expensive than booking a hotel as villas are charged on the whole home, not per individual. You can book a villa that sleeps 10 people for between £100 and £150 a night – at a hotel you could pay that much per person. Not only that, you get fabulous facilities, all to yourself, including the use of a private pool. Heaven!
Eating outOrlando is awash with a wide variety of eateries. There are low budget buffet restaurants at one end of the scale and upmarket restaurants at the other end – you just have to pick what suits you. The portion sizes are huge, however, and you will find that you only really need one main meal a day – you’ll spend the rest of the day working up your appetite or working off the meal! Many family restaurants offer child meals for free, so look out for these. Additionally, in most supermarkets you will find money saving coupons and you will find lots of coupons for the local restaurants, which makes it an even more economical deal. Look out for the “all you can eat” buffets, these are exceptionally good value.
Eating InSupermarkets are aplenty and you will find lots of local produce on sale as well as a wide variety of other products. If you are staying in self catering accommodation, then you can cook up a storm at a fraction of the cost of feeding yourselves at home, and not only that, you can dine poolside – what could be better! There are also a lot of fast food restaurants who will deliver to your vacation home, so you don’t even have to warm up the oven!
DrinkingMany bars and restaurants have happy hours and if you time your visit right, you can find that having a drink is not as expensive as you first thought.
ShoppingThis is the place to be for shopping. There are lots of designer and fashion outlets to satisfy your urge to shop but that will be kind on your purse. Again, you will find that you can collect coupons from local supermarkets and the tourist offices that will offer you even more discounts – well worth the effort.
When to goIf you can travel out of season – do so. Flights will be much cheaper as well as accommodation costs. On top of that, you’ll find the attractions are far less busy. Florida is the sunshine state so you can guarantee lots of sun what ever time you go.
Most of all – HAVE FUN – you’ll really find it’s not as expensive as you first thought.
