Old Time Pottery
We all love to shop in Florida; so cheap, such quality, such variety; however, it is easy just to stick to our favourite malls and miss some of the more individual stores
Old Time Pottery is one such shop and it is conveniently placed a little off opposite to our old favourite the Florida Mall
We have passed this many times on our visits to Florida(rather put off by its misleadind name) however, a friend persuaded us to try it and it has become a firm favourite.
This store is an aladdins cave of all you could want for your home and also great gifts and boy the prices are so good.
First aisle you come to is stuffed with thousands of plants, trees, greenery and floristry accesories. There is a counter in this section staffed by helpful assistants.
Then a delicious scent draws you to several yards of candles and scented items; good gifts here. Then straight on to dozens of different dinner wear ranges, most available individually so you are not stuck with their idea of a "setting"
As you near the end of the store rugs and lamps and so on assault the senses; I found a perfect elephant table lamp here once. Then the opposite end yields to linens and comforters and so on packed high to the ceiling. They usually have those wonderful ripple foam mattress toppers for your bed here.
Swinging back you come to my favourite section; pictures and mirrors and frames and associated prodacts. You could spend hours here. . . and I have!
Finally, we come to the kitchen section with pots and pans and gadgets and everything you could possibly need to set up a modern kitchen
I got a great set of pyrex casseroles here once that had handy fridge store plastic lids; how much? $10 I do not believe it!
You will notice that a lot of the stock has famous brand or store names on it and this is their secret, they buy discontinued, overstocks and over runs; what is commonly known in America as blow outs. They have the capacity to buy big so they can sell it low. Every day some new stock arrives so it is always worth a revisit and often they have stock reduced even furthur behind the tllls
The full address of the Sand Lake brach is 937 Sand Lake Drive Orlando Florida 32809 tel number 407 438 32809 but there are also branches in West Colonial Drive, Occe and East State Drive Casselberry. Out side of Orlando there are branches in Ft Myers, Melbourne, Ft Lauderdale, Destin and Tampa.
They were established in 1986 and now have 34 stores and all are 2 acres or more.
