New Year's Eve 2009/2010 Part 2
Continuing with our great evening on New Year’s Eve, we decided to make our way to Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom as we thought what could be more magical. We did wonder whether we would ‘get in’ as sometimes Magic Kingdom is so busy on New Year’s Eve, they stop people going in. Anyway, we decided to take a chance and it paid off which was possibly due to the fact the weather forecast had said it would be a little chilly, when in fact, although we were well prepared, we were able to wander round until 0230 in the morning carrying our jackets! !
As we entered Main Street, the castle was absolutely beautiful and changed colours every few minutes. It was so stunning and something that will remain in our minds forever and whenever we return to Disney we will remember this scene on a very special New Year’s Eve. It was around 2230 when we arrived so we met many families with young children on their way out of the park which we thought was great - all the more room for us. As people had already started to get into their viewing spot on Main Street, we headed for the area just in front of the Noodle Cafe. There is an area there that has tables and chairs and we just about managed to get the last table so were extremely lucky not to have to stand for over an hour. As the time got closer to midnight, the tension increased with fantastic Michael Jackson music that had been playing increasing in decibels! ! ! Lots of people started dancing around the tables and there was certainly a wonderful party atmosphere. The firework display began at 2350 and went on until at last the count down started and on the stroke of midnight the whole place went wild with Auld Lang Syne, kissing, hugging and shaking hands, and everyone taking in the moment. With hardly a pause for breath, a huge explosion went off, Tinkerbell flew down from the castle, and then the start of another breath-taking firework display started. Having been to Magic Kingdom 4/5 times during the last 4 months, we thought it would be the same magical firework display. But no, this display was so different and absolutely amazing. It absolutely blew our minds that they could produce anything better than they normally produce. If anyone can pull all the stops out, Disney certainly can.
