New Rides in 2009
When we visited Seaworld last year we were in awe of the new ride being built called Manta. Not only did it dominate the skyline in the Park but also looked as though it was going to be immediately over the heads and very close to visitors as they walked through the Park! We need not have worried as they diverted the walkways so that they ride was no longer over them.
Manta is a ray which is a140-foot-tall flying coaster that runs on 3, 359 feet of track reaching a top speed of 56 mph while going through four inversions including a 98 feet tall pretzel loop.
If you really feel you are too scared for the ride this attraction also includes an aquarium for the non-riders where you could immerse yourself in floor-to-ceiling underwater viewing filled with stingrays, tropical fishes, an octopus and live coral, you really will enjoy this.
This is one of the best coasters in Orlando. The loop near the beginning is a fantastic and the pressure throughout the ride is awesome. The second part of the ride has no loop but there seem to be so many “near misses” with the surroundings, it is great. That said the ride itself is incredibly smooth with no real jerking about.
We managed to get on the ride twice one evening as the Park was due to close but be warned the queues can be anything up to three hours when the Park is busy. All of our party voted it amongst the best ride of the holiday only complaint was that it could have been longer!
We visited Universal Studios for two holidays expecting Rip Ride Rockit to be open and were disappointed both times. Finally it opened late August this year and I must say it was worth waiting for.
This coaster is unusual in as much as it is a musical roller coaster and as such is equipped with a series of video cameras that record riders and allow them to buy music videos of their experience.
It also has the first ' moving roller-coaster load platform' in the U. S. , which allows trains to depart the station every 23 seconds. From the ground the ride looks quite slow but once you ride it you will be surprised at how exciting it is. The sound system is very loud which adds to the intensity and starts at the lift hill. There is a great view from the top you can not only see all over the Park but also down town Orlando!
Two great new rides be sure not to miss them.
