My favourite Universal experience.
So having thought long and hard about my favourite Disney experience I turned my attention to Universal Studios.
The first park opened way back in 1990 and I well remember seeing it built. This was followed by Islands of Adventure which has now overtaken the original park in terms of visitor numbers.
I have to say that one of my early favourites was Jaws; yes it looked a bit tired and old fashioned towards the end but I still had a soft spot for it.
And of course, it took it' s final passenger over 18 months ago so it is no more. It is rumoured that this area will be used to extend Harry Potter so that will be a fair swap.
The roller coasters are absolutely awesome at Universal but I have to tell you that I hate ' coasters. However, I can sit and watch them for hours without the sightest desire to ride them.
Harry Potter, of course, is amazing and the main ride is incomparable (though a little bone shaking for my tastes) If I could choose the whole area, then no contest, but that would not be fair.
My next attraction for consideration will almost certainly surprise you. . . . it is the talking fountain. I have sometimes spent an hour or so just watching the interaction between the hidden cast member and the passing children.
The draw back to the fountain is that it depends on willing (and gulible) children passing by so on some days it is a dud.
If you ask me to pick out a show, then I always enjoy Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue, is it getting a little old hat? Maybe and maybe time to change this up a little.
So can you guess what got my eventual vote? probably not; it is E. T.
A lot of the reason for this is sentimental as we took our young children when it first opened and the were awe struck.
I love the themed queue area which is so cool and fresh and a few minutes of calm among the raz matazz of the parks.
Then the ride is so gentle as you ' pedal' over the ever changing scenery. And finally the thrill when E. T. thanks you by name.
I wonder what you choose? I bet it was The Forbidden Journey or one of the coasters or Spiderman; am I right?
