'Must do's' at Blizzard Beach
First for those that have never visited Blizzard Beach let me give you a little background knowledge…
According to Disney sources – a few years ago there was a freak winter storm that blanketed a little piece of Disney property in Florida with several inches of snow and Florida’s first ski resort was born!! Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your point of view the Florida sunshine soon returned and melted the snow to slippery slush, so the slalom courses, bobsled and toboggan runs became downhill water slides, the chairlift started to carry swimmers instead of skiers. The enormous ski jump became the tallest, fastest waterslide in Florida.
So know you know how Blizzard Beach came to be in Florida are you ready to experience the thrills that this brilliant water park has to offer all ages and bravery levels!!
Downhill Double Dipper – Minimum height requirement of 48” to ride this attraction
These two parallel slides are 230 feet long – you climb onto your inner tube at the top and then you’re off at speeds of up to 25 miles per hour, through the tunnel and then emerging again before you splashdown!
Tip: Don’t forget to keep your eyes open for the racing flags, racing graphics and time clocks!
Slush Gusher Minimum height requirement of 48” to ride this attraction
From the top of the 90 foot high Mount Gushmore, you ride the gully with a couple of humps to keep you entertained!
Tip: Make sure you are in the right queue as the queue for Slush Gusher is right next to the queue for Summit Plummit – this is a really popular ride so on busy days try and do this ride early in the day
Teamboat Springs In our family’s opinion this is THE best family raft ride ever!
It is also one of the Worlds longest raft rides with twelve hundred feet of white water and waterfalls for your raft to traverse on it’s way down the mountain.
Tip: Don’t forget to hold on tight!
Cross Country Creek This lazy river ride is not only a fabulous way to chill out and bask in the warmth of the Florida sun, it’s also a great way to get to different parts of the park without walking!
Tike’s Peak This fabulous snow covered area is dedicated to the little ones with a height requirement of 48” or UNDER, there is a kiddy sized tube slide as well as interactive fountains, pop jets, gentle body slides and a wading pool.
Tip: Look out for the snow sculptures and don’t forget to say Hi to Blizzard Beach’s very own alligator called Ice Gator!
