Mummys Revenge
We had not been on this ride before but now my niece had reached 10 she was beginning to become a little more daring with her choice of rides. The park was due to close in half an hour and the wait was only 10mins (the wait time for this ride didn’t seem to be listed on the information boards however, so it we walked to have a look first). We were stopped as this ride, like Men in Black, has lockers available to put in any bags, hats etc – you have to do this, they will not let you with anything that is loose. The lockers are free and use the biometric recognition system but you need to remember your number.
We joined the queue and it is quite dark inside and a few bits of memorabilia of the film. There is a hole in the wall and you put your hand in and the light turns on and a cold rush of air comes out. There is also a camera that views the queue further down so you can puff air onto them and then watch them jump and shout as you do it, which my girls found hysterical!
The ride was a sequence of cars and the ride is quite fast but running at 45mph not as bad as the large rollercoasters in Islands of Adventure. It has twists and turns where scary mummies and bugs crawl out of the walls around the place with the usual plunges and drops etc. There is a door that looks like it’s going to crush you but of course it doesn’t – but you will duck! Highly recommend the ride as I am not a great fan of coasters but didn’t find this too bad – if you can cope with Space and Splash Mountain, this is a good ride for you too.
You have your photo taken on the ride and when you exit the ride into the memorabilia shop you can view these. Some of the photos are hysterical myself and my niece look petrified as do other parties and everyone has a good look at you and giggles. The shop has the usual bits and pieces to buy but as the park was about to close in 10 minutes we went straight out and the wait time was then only 5 minutes so the children ran back in for another go! .
I went to the lockers but mine said it was open and infact it wouldn’t; one the attendants explained these were fairly new and was very helpful. The lockers are a good idea but have a time lapse so people simply can’t leave their bags in there all day. Found them a bit annoying when they won’t let you enter as you itching to get on the ride and this takes around 5 minutes but it’s not really an issue.
I then waited by the photos and watched everyone come out and from them entering to exiting it was around 25 minutes but by now the park close time had passed some twenty minutes ago, so it’s worth knowing that you can jump a ride almost as the park closes when wait times are minimal.
We then went off to eat at Bubba Gump so after a great day, we enjoyed a fantastic meal, then it was off back to the villa for a dip in the pool.
