Menchies Frozen Yoghurt at The Loop
As villa owners it has always been a chore to try to persuade the children to shop – there are always things that need replacing, so a trip to ‘house’ stores is always necessary but not their idea of fun. Now I finally have the answer, and no longer have the arguments when I need to go to The Loop for towels, linens or anything!
The Loop is a shopping mall that is great for household items (J C Penney, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Kohls and more), but also clothing and shoes (American Eagle, Ross, Old Navy, Famous Footwear etc), and there is also a huge cinema and numerous restaurants (Johnny Rockets, Bonefish Grill etc etc).
While browsing in the book shop, Books a Million one day, the children were as usual bored with shopping, so I decided to treat them to a Menchies Frozen Yoghurt , thinking it would be a healthy treat.
Firstly you decide which size cup you would like – buyer beware, the price is by weight! ! You then choose which flavour, or flavours of frozen yoghurt you would like (there are small sample cups if you would like to try before deciding). There are lots of flavours, including cookie dough, mint, cake batter, french vanilla, strawberry, pistachio, sorbets and many more. There are also gluten free, vegan and kosher options.
You then move on to the toppings – this is when any thoughts of this being a healthy treat disappeared! There is a massive selection of nuts, sweets, M& Ms, skittles, chocolates, cereals, granola, sprinkles, cocunut, snickers (to name but a few), and fruit including pineapple, melon, strawberry, peaches, mango and more. Finally, as if your cup isn’t full enough, you finish of with a huge selection of syrup toppings, which include hot fudge, strawberry, chocolate, butterscotch and caramel.
Your cup is then weighed, and this is when you find out you should have resisted some of those toppings – you pay by weight!
There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and drinks are also served.
We now have a loyalty card, where you can collect stamps and eventually (doesn’t seem to take us long), when you have collected enough you get a free one. Just bear in mind not to have one of these before your restaurant visit – they are like a meal on their own!
So now it seems I only have to mention the word ‘Menchies’, and now I have very happy volunteers to come shopping, and must admit I have tried one or two myself and prefer the frozen yoghurt to ice cream.
