Meeting Characters in Walt Disney World - Part 2
Continued from part 1
Character meet and greets at Disney' s Hollywood Studios are mostly scheduled appearances for which you will need to consult your park schedule. Be prepared to stand in line to meet Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and characters exclusive to the park such as Princess Sofia, Jake and Doc McStuffins as well as all the other Disney favorites.
Character dining at Disney' s Hollywood Studios is offered at Hollywood and Vine where characters from Disney Junior will join you, these include the aforementioned Sofia, Doc and Jake as well as Handy Manny.
At Epcot, meeting with characters is, once again, mostly achieved by scheduled character meet and greets, although there is an opportunity for a fast pass meet and greet at The Character Spot in Future World where you will find old favorites, Mickey Minnie and Pluto. Around World Showcase you can find, amongst others, Mulan in China, Snow White in Germany, Belle and Aurora in France and amigo Donald Duck complete with sombrero and poncho in Mexico.
Character dining opportunities in Epcot are at Princess Storybook Dining inside the Akershus in Norway where characters can include Belle, Jasmine Ariel and Aurora, or at the Garden Grill restaurant inside ' The Land' where Mickey, Pluto and Chip ' n' Dale will dine with you.
At Animal Kingdom, check out the meet and greets for Baloo and King Louie at upcountry landing between Africa and Asia or meet with Tarzan on Discovery Island trails. These characters as well as Up film characters Russell and Dug are unique to Animal Kingdom.
For character dining opportunities at Animal Kingdom why not try Donald' s Safari breakfast at The Tusker House restaurant where as well as Donald you can meet Mickey Minnie and Pluto.
If you are looking to meet characters without having to visit the theme parks, Disney dining experiences are available at several locations outside the parks and there is no requirement to be a guest at any of the hotels which offer character dining, just remember to make your reservations well in advance.
Here are just a few suggestions for character dining outside the theme parks;
Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary Resort serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and gives you the opportunity to meet with Mickey, Minnie and Pluto.
The Wonderland Tea Party at The Grand Floridian, where you can lunch with Alice and The Mad Hatter at a children only event (although parents are welcome to stay and watch) Also at The Grand Floridian is the Perfectly Princess Tea Party for girls 4-12 with the opportunity to meet Sleeping Beauty herself, Princess Aurora.
For the full range of Disney dining opportunities check out the Walt Disney World website.
All these suggestions are by no means exhaustive, we have been presented with ad hoc opportunities to meet characters at Disney Springs, Disney' s water parks and at Disney' s Boardwalk. Just keep your eyes peeled and don' t forget your camera and autograph book!
