"Market street Cafe" Celebration
If you fancy a taste of something a bit different from the standard all you can eat buffet, why not try out a meal in the town of Celebration. Celebration is easily reached from the 192 and has a nice array of shops and restaurants located along a lake front setting.
We decided to try out one of their restaurants during our recent holiday. Parking in Celebration is not quite as easy as we thought, expecting to park in the large car park, which was on your left as you entered the town, this however had been turned into luxury condos. Luckily we found more parking at the far end of the lake and there was also ample on street parking, though take care as some of this is time limited.
After walking along the lake front street, we decided upon Market Street café for our evening meal. The Market Street Cafe, was formerly known as Max's, It's very easy to find, right on the corner of Market and Front Streets, across from the lake. The café is an old-fashioned diner, complete with Art Deco decor and counter seating, in addition to booths and tables. There is also an outdoor dining area which overlooks the street and lake.
Market Street Cafe serves sandwiches, salads, and dinner plates made of America's favorite comfort foods as well as everything in between. It's open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week.
We were really looking forward to a relaxing meal here, especially after reading some of the reviews. Our served was very efficient, and dashed between tables like a whirlwind, which was very frustrating when you could not catch her for a refill of your soda. I was hoping to enjoy a cool glass of Zinfandel while I studied the huge menu, only to be told they had run out, rather disappointingly I settled for a Coke which did not go down quite the same. The menu had many choices and would cater for most tastes. My husband ordered the meatloaf, without mushroom gravy as he is allergic! And I went for the crab patty sandwich. We did have a problem with our order, my husbands meat loaf arrived smothered in mushroom gray, which our served insisted was turkey gravy! However they did change it eventually. Despite this the food was very good, hot and plentiful.
I would like to say we would eat there again, but our server was rather abrupt in her manner, arguing with my husband over his meal and her whirlwind approach to serving, almost throwing the food at us, really did nothing to enhance what we thought was going to be a relaxing meal.
All in all the food was good value at $40 for the four of us, perhaps getting a more relaxed and understanding server who was not on “piece work! ” would have made our experience more enjoyable.
