Market Place Downtown Disney - Part 2
When you have exhausted the shopping, it may be time for lunch. There are many novelty restaurants in Market Place. One I mentioned in Part 1 of this article is the Earl of Sandwich. As the name suggests they sell sandwiches (and salads) but these are served hot in an enormous bagette almost the size of a French loaf. You choose your own filling, roast beef, horseradish and cheese for example or turkey, cranberry sauce and cheese and they put it together and heat it up. It is a bit of a long wait but well worth it.
Wolfgang Puck serves mainly Italian food (pizzas mostly) but does salads and a few entrees such as pasta alfredo (delicious).
For more expensive lunches or dinners, the Rainforest Café serves the usual main courses, burgers, chicken, steak and salads and all in the setting of a rainforest- children love this one. There is usually a wait at meal times so do try to eat out of the usual hours for lunch or dinner. This restaurant has a shop attached where they sell all kinds of souvenirs, clothes and toys appropriate to the rainforest – still again though with the Mickey Mouse theme.
Cap’n Jacks restaurant serves mainly fish, but chicken and burgers are available. This is situated by the waters edge of the lake and gives you a lovely view whilst enjoying your meal.
T Rex is another firm favourite with the children. All the menu choices are named after dinosaur characters and the food is about the same as in the Rainforest Café. This also comes attached to a shop selling toy dinosaurs and all manner of other pre historic toys. Again you may have to wait for a table here.
Fultons Crab House is a very grown up restaurant and features, as you would expect, crab. They serve 50 seafood selections and it is all housed on a replica river boat.
Fresh A Peel is the newest restaurant to open in Market Place and serves all healthy fruit, vegetable and salads and healthy all natural burgers and balanced meals for the children.
For an afternoon treat (or any time really) do not miss Ghirardellis Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop. The ice cream sundaes are ENORMOUS and the most wonderful ice creams you will ever have. Try a Very Berry Sundae, it is filled with vanilla ice cream, strawberries, strawberry sauce, biscuit pieces, blueberry sauce and all topped off with whipped cream, chocolate coated blueberries and a chocolate coated wafer biscuit – sublime.
I can see I will have to write a part 3 as I havn’t even mentioned the attractions yet.
