Making the Most of Your Villa Part 4
One of the great advantages of staying in a villa is the flexibility to eat when and whatever you like.
We love getting up early that first morning (early can be 5. 00am! ) and going to Shoneys for an all you eat breakfast. After that we tend to keep in supplies to allow us to eat breakfast in the villa if we wish to. If we are planning an early start fro the parks we simply leave out cereal and toast and everyone can help themselves. However if we are having a pretty late start or are staying in for the day my Dad pops to Publix for an assortment of freshly cooked bagels. If you do not want the hassle of this Walmart sell pre-packed longer life bagels that are also very good.
Different members of the family get up at various times so as well as the cereals and toast we leave out the bagels, Philadelphia cheese, hard boiled eggs, cold meats and tomatoes for everyone to help themselves. After the dashing around the parks we love these leisurely breakfasts.
Depending on how we feel or how hot it is if we are staying in all day we sometimes go to one of the local restaurants for lunch. In hot weather this allows us to get away from the midday sun and also to avail ourselves of the many reasonably priced lunch menus on offer.
If we stay at the villa for lunch we usually put in some of the fantastic baked potatoes they have in Florida and serve these with assorted meats and huge salads with several of the many delicious dressing you can buy over there.
On our days in at the villa we usually give the girls an early tea, often they just want pizzas or macaroni cheese, apparently mac n cheese in Florida is much better then in the UK! This allows them to have a swim after digesting their food and then have an early night.
We usually wait until the girls are in bed before we have our dinner and try to ensure there is not too much cooking. More often than not we buy those huge avocados and fill them with the great prawns you can buy over there and a light sauce. My parents however usually opt for Palma ham and melon. The US is famous for its steaks and they are so inexpensive compared with the UK, we all tend to have these with salads. Dessert is usually a big bowl of strawberries accompanied by some of the wonderful own brand ice- creams from Publix.
There are many many advantages of staying in a villa not least of all of eating in.
If you do rent a villa I am sure you will enjoy it.
