Making the Most of Your Villa - Part 2
In Making The Most of Your Villa part 1 I shared things we pre planned before our holiday.
The first morning in Orlando everyone seems to get up early. In the summer I like nothing more than to sit by the pool with a cup of tea and watch the sun come up and this is usually followed by hot air balloons drifting over the villa.
All villas have lovely kitchens with lots of modern utensils to make your stay more like a home from home. Our Fridge/Freezer like many others has an ice maker and this we use frequently however if you do not have one you can buy large bags of ice cubes in the supermarkets which you can store in your freezer.
Staying at a villa gives you so much more choice of what and where to eat. On our first morning we usually go out for breakfast as everyone is up early and after being in the pool they are all really hungry. It is almost a ritual for us to go for an all you can eat breakfast at Shoneys but these can also be had at Houlihans, Sizzlers, Golden Coral and several more. Beware if you go out for breakfast on a Sunday it is best to go early because from 10. 00am onwards the whole of Florida appears to descend on Orlando for breakfast!
Suitably refreshed we go to both Publix and Walmart to stock up on foods, detergents, suncream etc. again Mom and I have probably thought about this before we go and will be armed with a list.
We stock up with plenty of fruit and salads, we find that the girls are always hungry when they are in and out of the pool and as opposed to probably buying a snack if we stay at a hotel; we sit them at the pool table with plates of oranges, apples melons and grapes. We also keep low cal ice lollies as these again are a good snack by the pool.
For the freezer we buy a couple of pizzas and some of Fridays appetisers these can be used as snack at lunchtime along with the salad if we stay at the villa all day. Similarly lots of pasta, sauces and cheeses for such occasions.
Plenty of large and small bottles of water are very useful the latter can be put in the freezer and taken to the Parks where they will last all day.
As opposed to a hotel room you will have a very large fridge and you can take advantage of the many offers on beer, wine and coke that can be found in Supermarkets.
We always buy a stain remover as well as washing detergent as the girls (and even the adults ! ) can get stains of chocolate, pasta, sauce etc on their clothes. If you are in a hotel you usually have to wait until you get home to wash these and they then may not come out but staying at a villa you can wash them immediately.
