Little ones at Magic Kingdom - Adventureland

Magic Kingdom is big…. very big! And as little legs can get tired with all the walking it’s a good idea to do a couple of ‘lands’ within Magic Kingdom and then head back to the villa for a swim or a nap – with your hopper tickets you can always come back later and do some more!

For some reason most people seem to head round to the right when they come up main street – but if you go left and across the wooden planked bridge you will have arrived in Adventureland.

There are several attractions here ideally suited to the younger members of your party and unless you’re kiddies are happy to climb over a hundred steps I would give the Swiss Family Treehouse a miss, so onto the Jungle Cruise, this is a cruise through four continents, it takes about 10 minutes and the boats all have different names.

On your way round you’ll pass through hippo infested waters, look out for their wiggling ears! You’ll see lions, a rhino, zebras, giant butterflies, snakes and headhunters! ! The animatronics are really clever but look out for the waterfall and the elephants! The Jungle Cruise is part of the fast pass system.

After your cruise around the continents it’s time to head over to Pirates of the Caribbean – this ride is especially good on a hot door and the queue twist and turns through underground caverns as you make your way to the loading area and climb aboard your boat. The detailing on the this ride is fantastic – we always have a chuckle at the hairy leg of the pirate dangling over the edge of the bridge and don’t forget to keep an eye open for Jack Sparrow!

Now it’s time for a show! The Enchanted Tiki Room is a 20 minute show that is perfect for little kids!

After you’ve chilled in the air conditioning of the Tiki Room it’s time to fly high into the sunshine on Aladdin’s flying magic carpets! Again a great ride for little ones. The sixteen flying magic carpets surround a giant Genie Lamp and the front rider can control the height of the carpet with a lever while the back seat rider controls the pitch of the carpet. Our younger party members always love this ride as it gives them a feeling of being in control rather than just ‘sitting there’

As with all areas there are some great themed shops to purchase the most have souvenirs and don’t forget to try an ice cream from the Sunshine Tree Terrace before heading on over to Frontierland.
