Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show at Hollywood Studios
We first saw this spectacular stunt show four years ago at Disneyland Paris and have been eagerly awaiting its arrival at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The show opened in early May this year (2005) and we were one of the first to see it during its testing stage and then again at its official opening and it most certainly does not disappoint. The show is pretty much identical to the one in Paris but with the fast action and death defying stunts going on all around you, you definitely need to sit through this a few times to take it all in!
The outdoor stunt show features cars that have been specially designed and modified, motorcycles, jet skis, a cast of over thirty and a plethora of impressive special effects. Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show is a Fastpass attraction but with so much seating (the massive tiered stadium can hold up to 5000 guests) I am certain that you would have no trouble in gaining entrance without a Fastpass, except at very busy times of the year. For the best view I would recommend sitting as high up as possible and if you have small children with you it may be preferable not to sit too near the front, it can be extremely loud at times.
Not to give too much of the story away, because I don’t want to spoil your enjoyment, the scene is set in France, even the stunt cars are French (Opels in fact), and the whole show centres around the filming of a spy thriller. The show stops at regular intervals whilst the “Director” explains the stunts and how they are filmed. These stunts are so perfect you might believe that the cars are computer driven and that nobody is even inside them but at the end of each scene the drivers get out of their cars and are introduced to the audience.
The show’s choreography is almost beyond belief, lines of cars whizz by on two wheels, motorcyclists perform wheelies whilst one of the stuntmen skids off his motorcycle into a wall of fire, cars fly through the air, plenty of explosions and a few surprises make this one stunt show you should not miss. The whole experience lasts a breathtaking thirty minutes but I can guarantee that you’ll be back if only to convince yourself that what you saw actually did happen!
