Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show
Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as a fantastic display of how they film stunts using cars and motor bikes in the films.
It follows a stunt manager and production crew as they work on a live film set to capture the vehicle stunts and car chase scenes for an action-packed spy thriller set in the south of France.
The show lasts approximately 30 minutes. The show is situated at the end of the Streets of America area at Disney’s Hollywood Studio.
You get a behind-the-scenes look at the filmmaking process, as secrets are revealed in this thrilling combination of complex vehicle stunts choreographed with split-second precision. The revving of engines, squealing of tyres and screeching brakes is positively deafening. The stunt men they use are amazing and end up being hurled from tall buildings and being set on fire. They also use jet-skis and trucks to show how these scenes are shot.
Some of the tricks they use you would never think of and you will never look at a high speed car chase in the same light again. When you think a car is travelling at up to 40 miles an hour backwards, it is actually an illusion and they have modified the car and reversed the body to look like it is travelling backwards when in fact they have a dummy driver and the whole car is actually travelling forwards.
There are some scenes when cars are heading straight towards each other and just miss at the last minute then scream into a handbrake turn and do the whole thing again in the opposite direction.
They show cars which are launched to fly over trucks in a bid to escape the pursuers. They also have motor bikes which drive through hoops of flames and stunt men in special suits are set alight. Naturally they show how they are put out without harming the stunt man.
Finally some of the drivers abandon their vehicles and take to jet skis on a canal running round the front of the show. After each sequence they stop the action and show you how it is done.
While all this is going on they are filming each sequence and at the end of the show they put all the action together and show how it will look in the finished film.
This is one of the most spectacular shows at all the Disney parks and will thrill young and old, male and female alike. Do get there early though, as all the best seats go very quickly.
