Last Day of the Holidays (3)
Many visitors from the United Kingdom to Orlando have an early/late evening flight home. As we often travel with Virgin Atlantic we usually go to Downtown Disney and at the Virgin check in we check in our baggage and receive our boarding cards. The cost for this at time of writing this article is $10 per adult. Having done this we are then free to do as we wish until we have to be at the airport about one hour before the flight. We usually aim to get there about one and a half hours in advance to allow sufficient time to return our car and not to have to rush. I must admit it is great to get to the airport without pulling heavy cases. We have usually left our clothes for the return journey in the car and change at the airport
We then do one of two things after a quick look around Downtown Disney for any last minute shopping.
If we are hungry and decide it is time for lunch we head towards Golden Coral by Premium Outlets although if my parents are on their own they prefer to go to Bahama Breeze in the same location. The latter is usually very busy at night but at lunchtime apart from holiday periods it is reasonably easy to get seated.
After this we usually spend a leisurely afternoon strolling around Seaworld before heading to the airport.
However if the girls and adults have the energy to still have fun we head to Typhoon Lagoon which is opposite Downtown Disney. We hire towels and rent a locker. We bring a carry on bag with a plastic bag for wet clothing small samples of shampoo, hairbrushes etc so that after our afternoon in the Water Park we have a shower and put our wet clothes in the plastic bag before returning the towels.
My parents are often quite happy just to get a couple of loungers whilst they read their books and soak up the last of the Florida sun, later in the day they will meander around the lazy river. The rest of us head of to go on as many rides as we can.
If we feel hungry before we leave the Park we go and have our last fix of Disney burgers with all the trimmings. If really hungry we finish this off by sharing one of those ice cream buckets!
On some occasions we eat at the airport after having got changed. Although we love Outback which is airside I personally feel there is a better selection of restaurants before you go through security. However if you do decide to eat airside be prepared that the restaurants close down early we struggled one year to eat at Outback after 9. 00pm when our flight was delayed.
These are just a couple of suggestions of how to spend your last day I am sure you will find many more.
