Lake County Festivals
If you have been a frequent visitor to Florida you probably look around for something new to do when you go. May I suggest you think about the Festivals that take place all over. I know that other counties have their own but I am just going to cover the ones that take place in Lake County. I won’t attempt to go into any depth about them, merely to inform you of the variety there are and the months you might find them taking place. Of course the calendar can vary from year to year so it is always best to contact Lake County Tourist Information to get confirmation of dates, etc.
In January, February and November take a trip up the 429, then along west of the 441 and take a walk round Renninger’s Antique Extravangaza. Not only will you find the Antiques there is also a Flea Market, but this you will find every Saturday and Sunday.
There are numerous Arts and Music Festivals throughout the year. For example in February Mount Dora hosts separate Arts and Music Festivals. Leesburg has one in March.
Lakeridge Winery and Vineyards on highway 27 hosts an event nearly every month and these cover a variety of things from, surprise surprise a Wine Festival, Jazz, Blues and Craft Festival. Just check their web site for more details.
Mount Dora also has other events on throughout the year, as well as the arts and Music Festivals, they have wine festivals, craft fairs, garden festivals and one I happened to visit last year when we visited Mount Dora after having been to Renninger’s. This was a Christmas Fair and they were selling the most delightful Christmas table decorations as well as fully decorated trees. The friend and I told one of the ladies at the door to keep our husbands occupied while we went round. This she did very effectively and we spent a good hour purchasing some lovely Christmas presents, decorations and knick-knacks, all at very reasonable prices. It is certainly our intention to try and time our visit next year on the same Saturday.
Many of the towns and cities in Clermont have their own festivals so just have a look at Lake County’s web site for further details. There are even a gliding competitions at the Seminole-Lake Gliderport.
Every time we go to Florida now we try and find one of these events to visit as it certainly makes a change from The Parks and is often much more relaxing although I can’t guarantee it will always be cheaper as my husband will vouch for.
