LA FORCHETTA RISTORANTE ITALIANO - A real Italian restaurant
This delightful real Italian restaurant opens at 2pm every day just after Papa has started up his huge ovens. It stays open until quite late at night, depending on how many people are still wishing to eat. It is a wonderful place for a late lunch or early dinner as it's usually quite quiet at these times and Papa serves you himself! He's a real friendly guy and loves to talk with his guests. He knows his food and wine inside out so ask him for a recommend if you can't make up your mind.
Things really start to buzz around 6pm when the place gets busy. Papa serves delicious Italian food, made with pure ingredients and in the real Italian way. His Wine List is extensive too!! La Forchetta is owned and run by Papa, Mama and their family and is mainly used by the locals and business people, because it's away from the usual tourist strips and very few tourists know about this part of Kissimmee.
Pizzas are huge and cost from around US$15 but will easily feed at least 2 people even if you go there really hungry. You can mix and match the toppings to create your favorite dish. Try one with the 'Works' – 8 fresh and very generous toppings. Your pizza will be served on a huge revolving platter which takes up most of the table!! Papa has pasta dishes to die for from about US$7. Work your way through the menu on various visits and you won't be disappointed.
It doesn’t look much from the outside, because it doesn’t need to. The locals already know that it’s great. Papa and his family have painted murals on a couple of the external walls so it won’t be difficult to recognize that you are in the right place. If you plan to eat dinner with Papa and his family then either get to La Forchetta early or leave it until a bit later as they don’t have a great many parking spaces. Service is not fast because absolutely everything is cooked to order from fresh and some dishes will take a bit longer than others. Try one of their delicious appertizers and enjoy a tasty glass of whatever takes your fancy while you’re waiting for your meal.
It's located near the bridge in Kissimmee on 17/92 (S John Young Pkwy) about a couple of miles south of 192. It's a little off the beaten track but well worth the visit.
