Kres Restaurant
We normally do not go to Downtown Orlando to dine but we were invited to dine there by some American friends when we were last over at our villa.
Kres Chophouse is located in Church Street Orlando it serves lunch Monday to Friday 11:30am to 5:00pm dinner Monday to Saturday 5:00pm to 12:00am.
This is a very stylish Chophouse & Lounge and it states that Kres is where “Contemporary and trendsetting design elements are merged with its classic architecture. ” It certainly is impressive with a quite unique blend of retro, contemporary, brown and burgundy walls and antique ceilings whilst the lighting fixtures and furniture are modern.
The restaurant is very popular as a business dining venue with the menu changing daily and an extensive wine list. There are also semi-private rooms for special events. Apparently the Orlando Magazine 2009 Dining Awards recognized Kres as Best Late-Night Dining and Best Celebrity Spotting. I believe it has also received awards for its steaks. There is also a bar menu each night which is designed for the convenience of guests attending special events in the Downtown area including Magic Games, Broadway Shows at the Bob Carr or Concerts at the Amway Arena. The menu includes items found on the lunch and dinner menu.
All major credit cards are accepted and there is valet parking available from 6. 00pm. Reservations are accepted and can either be made online or by calling 407 447 7950.
The night we went the server, who was most professional, recommended the calamari appetizer which my brother and our friends had declaring it was some of the best calamari they had tasted. I chose the House Salad which was not like any other salad as it included Spring Greens, Tomatoes, Grapefruit, Bleu Cheese, Sunflower Seeds with a lovely Walnuts & Balsamic Vinaigrette.
For an entrée the men chose the Kres Mixed Grill which included Garlic Shrimp, Filet Mignon and Double Lamb Chops, Asparagus and Three Cheese Au Gratin Potatoes. Their meals were huge but they were both delighted with their choice.
Our friend’s wife and I opted for the Filet Wellington this was a Filet and Wild Mushroom in Pastry served with Asparagus (cooked al dente just as we both liked it) with a Port Wine Sauce.
The men were too full for a dessert but us girls listened patiently as the “Dessert Lady” showed us and explained all the desserts. We chose Carrot Cake which we shared between us.
A live jazz band had started playing during the meal which was great however is you had been sitting near it I suspect it might have been difficult to hear the conversation at your table.
We will return to Kres.
