Kissimmee Old town - family entertainment
A visit to Kissimmee Old Town is a must. The entertainment and rides are ideal for the whole family especially for the kids. For the very brave the human slingshot that catapults you up to 365 feet into the sky is probably the most scary ride to go on, it will certainly get the palms of your hands sweating and the adrenalin pumping. Once you get back onto the ground it will take a little while to get your breath back. Then the windstorm roller coaster becomes slightly mild after the slingshot but it’s still a must for the roller coaster aficionado’s. There is an old style Ferris wheel and a go-kart track to keep the enjoyment going. Not forgetting the tiny tots, the Wacky worm kiddies roller coaster, spinning tea cups and other rides will keep them amused.
On Thursday from 6pm there is the motor bike display with all types of bikes including traditional bikes, choppers and three wheelers with V8 engines in them.
Friday night is one of the car cruise nights with cars and trucks from 1975 to 1987 but our favourite is the Saturday night cruise with all the pre 1974 cars which includes the big American V8’s of the 40’s and 50’s, these are the most traditional American cars. The cars start arriving at 1pm and the cruise starts at 8. 30pm, you can have a good look around them and ask the owners any questions you have whilst the cars are on display before the cruise starts. Whilst all this is going on there is live rock and roll music on the main stage which is absolutely free.
Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 8pm Latin bands play and Spanish style food is available but only for certain months of the year so check the dates before you go. There are lots of leaflets at stores and hotels with the details on.
You will have plenty of choice for either lunch or dinner time dining. Among all the restaurants burgers and fries are available at All American Food, pizza’s at Flippers Pizzeria and Kool Katz full service restaurant if you want more leisurely dining instead of the fast food The Blue Max Tavern offers you the addition of pool tables and karaoke in the evening with a full bar and is open until 2am in the morning. An ideal place to eat if you get there early enough is Tropical Breeze where you can eat outside opposite the main stage. All in all Kissimmee Old Town is packed with things to do and should not be missed as an addition or alternative to the rest of the theme parks.
