Florida Guide > Magic Kingdom
Keys to The KIngdom
I have now done this tour on three separate occasions and have still learnt something new each time.
This tour is a magic Kingdom and is a daily tour starting at 8. 30am , 9am and 9. 30am.
It lasts a total of 5 hours and offers an on site walking tour taking in the history, logistics, technical and operational workings of the Magic Kingdom. The cost is $65 per adult ( no one under the age of 16 can take part in this tour) and lunch is include in the price.
You can book this tour from the UK just by phoning Disney. You need to be at Guests Relations at least 15 minutes before your tour time as you will need to check in collect your badge, a drink and most importantly order lunch. You will then be given your headset so you can hear everything that your guide tells you on the tour.
Next you meet your tour guide and get to introduce yourself to the rest of your group, you may want to remember the first time you visited WDW and also your favorite Disney character and the reason why.
You then head off down main street stopping just on the right hand side in the small area , you then get to hear how Walt purchased the land in Florida so that he could build WDW, and also all of his associates that helped him, you will see all of their names on the glass windows as you head Main Street towards the Castle. You then walk up the remainder of Main Street stopping to look at the statues of Walt Disney and Mickey and also Roy Disney and MInnie. What do you think Walt is saying to Mickey - what is he pointing at?
Next it’s on through Adventureland and onto to Pirates of the Caribbean (straight to the front of the queue here) and you get to learn some of the history of the ride.
The you head towards Splash Mountain but you go back stage at this point looking at the parade assembly area and you get to see some of the floats close up and the water treatment plant that runs Splash Mountain. After this is lunch at the Colombia Harbour House, a section of the upstairs is set aside for tour guests and you will also receive a very special little present from your tour guide at this point.
Once you have finished lunch it is then onto the Haunted Mansion - again you miss the queues, and you get told how the various illusions are designed and you also get look for those special ‘Hidden Mickey’s’.
Next you head back towards Main Street and then you get to go down to the Utilidors and it is amazing to see the working of the Magic Kingdom - you really get to understand what it takes to run this park on a daily basis and all the guests get to see is the perfect Theme Park. You really do start to appreciate what does happen including how they recycle items, how the characters and all the cast members move around the park.
There is plenty of time for questions the whole way round, if your Tour Guide is not allowed to tell you something then they will say just that. You will learn so much and I was afraid that it would spoil my enjoyment of the Magic KIngdom but it doesn’t it just enhances your view and you start to see things from a different perspective.
I would recommend this tour to anyone over the age of 16 but be warned you are on your feet for the majority of the five hours so remember to wear comfortable shoes.
