Stepping back in time at Johnny Rockets
While enjoying some retail therapy one day at The Loop on our last visit to Orlando, the kids were complaining they were hungry, so we stopped at Johnny Rockets Restaurant for a burger. Little did we know we were about to enjoy the original American Diner experience!
As we stepped through the doors it was like being transported back in time, to the days of Fozzie and crew from ‘Happy Days’. The décor is straight from the 50s diner scene, chrome and red, with a juke box playing songs from the era such as Elvis and Buddy Holly. There is an open grill where you can grab a stool and watch you meal being cooked, while chatting to the friendly staff or sit at a table or booth and be served by one of the many servers, all dressed in clothes from the rock and roll era. The walls are adorned with pictures and artefacts in keeping with the 50s style.
Now to choose from the menu, and where to start! For the first course there is a choice of onion rings, chicken rings and chilli bowls. For the main course there is a great selection of hamburgers with various fillings, sandwiches, salads, hot dogs and of course fries, all cooked to order with various extra sides to choose from. No trip to Johnny Rockets would be complete without sampling one of their shakes – choose from a selection of mouth-watering flavours including chocolate, strawberry, peanut butter, cookies and cream and more – they are almost a meal by themselves. If you have any room after all this desert can be chosen from sundaes or freshly baked apple pie and cream or ice cream. The kids menu is smaller versions of the adults, with a choice of raw vegetables or fruit if they want a healthier option.
Johnny Rockets is an ideal stop for lunch or why not make an evening of it by combining your shopping with a trip to the cinema and check out the latest film, while the ladies enjoy some pampering at Lee’s where you can enjoy a facial or manicure.
For a break from the parks, some shopping in a relaxed atmosphere or to try something different, the The Loop is a great place to visit with stores including Sports Authority, Ross Dress for Less, Old Navy, Claire’s Accessories and many more.
At The Loop shopping centre can be found on the Osceola Parkway, approximately 10 minutes from Disneyworld, and you can check out the website for a list of stores and restaurants.
