Islands of Adventure (10)
Islands of adventure, is now regarded as one of the best theme parks in Orlando, Florida. Aimed mainly at people who like the thrill of a rollercoaster and enjoy getting wet it is located right next door to Universal studios.
To enjoy both parks it is best to get a 2 or 3 day pass as this will give you plenty of time to visit both, and if you are lucky sometimes there are discounts for longer periods. If you want to visit more than 2 times in a year you can by an annual pass which works out at $199.
The park itself is well designed and each area is easy to get to with the park designed in shape of a large circle. There are the following areas to explore, Seuss landing, The lost continent, Marvel super hero island, Toon lagoon and Jurrasic park.
For me this theme park is the best in Florida and only Busch Gardens comes close to this in pure adrenaline. One thing Islands of Adventure has over Busch Gardens, is it seems to be able to cope with the huge amounts of people in the peak times of year better.
My favourite ride is the Duelling dragons, 2 separate inverted coasters that run on separate tracks (one called fire and the other ice). Each of these gives a slightly different experience and it is always best to ride both within the day. Duelling Dragons is located in the lost continent.
Other rides include the amazing adventures of Spiderman, a 4D ride that takes you into the action with the superhero himself. This ride really is great giving you a 4D experience that is second to none in Orlando. If you are not too keen on coasters then this will be one of the best rides in the park. Also located in Marvel Superhero Island is the dreaded Doctor Doom Fearfall a 100ft freefall drop that gives you almost 3 seconds of weightlessness. For the kids this park of the park is the best.
The other big rollercoaster in Marvel Superhero Island is the huge Hulk. This ride is Orlando’s largest launch coaster that propels the cars up to 60mph in under 3 seconds through a set of loops and banked turns. If you like your rides big then this is a must.
If you are after getting wet then try Popeye and Bluto’s rapids, this ride is certain to get you very wet. When we went on it we came off drenched! This ride is in Toon Lagoon along with Dudley Rip saw Falls a log flume ride that also gets you very wet. Both these rides are better than the ones that Disney has to offer.
Overall I would rate Islands of Adventure the best theme park in Florida and maybe the whole of the USA. I have been to Six Flags Magic mountain in California and it is on par with this. The beauty of this theme park is the whole family will have something to do, from kids to the larger kids in the family.
