Florida Guide > Hints and Tips

Is two weeks enough?

I would guess that the average holiday spent in Florida is around 2 weeks. That is what people from the U. K. most typically take, with those from the United States settling for just one week or sometimes even less. Of course, our American cousins get less than the half the holiday allowance given to those from the U. K.

So is it enough?

I would say a resounding ' no' and this is why.

By the time you take off one day for flying over, that leaves you with only 13 days. The first day you need to be a little gentle with yourselves and not plan a dawn to dusk theme park day. We usually shop a little for supplies and then loll round the pool.

Look at what you will want to fit into these days

Magic Kingdom
Epcot
Hollywood Studios
Animal Kingdom
Universal
Islands of Adventure
Busch Gardens
Legoland
Typhoon Lagoon
Discovery Cove
Aquatica
Silver Springs

O. K. so that is one park a day, isn' t it? No, no, no! You will be exhausted and too brain dead to enjoy it if you try to go to a theme park every single day.

I always advise a busy day followed by a relaxed day. That could be a day at the parks interspersed with a shopping day, a day at the beach, a half day at a State Park or maybe the best, simply enjoying your wonderful vacation villa and pool and enjoying all the extras they offer.

There are also dozens of great museums, towns such as Mt Dora and Winter Park to explore and many smaller attractions like Ripleys Believe it or Not or the Titanic exhibition.

To clinch my argument, the flights are going to cost you no more for 3/ 4 weeks than they do for 2 and the car hire only a little more.

Remember to start your planning a little earlier than usual as your owner may not have 3 spare weeks nearer the time.

When my guests come back from their fortnight in the Florida sun the thing I hear the most is that was not long enough, so next time make sure you make a good holiday great and stay longer.
