International Drive
When we first visited International Drive in the late 80s we thought it was just a road full of hotels/motels, how wrong we were.
It is impossible to list the many many things there are to do when you visit IDrive (as it is known locally) but I will try and list a few of them here.
Titanic the Experience is one of our favourite attractions where you can explore the full-scale recreations of Titanic' s areas such as the Grand Staircase, First Class Parlor Suite, Veranda Cafe and Promenade Deck. Here you can find trained historians in period costume. You will see Capt. Smith and Molly Brown the latter will tell you stories of passengers and crew during a guided journey. You will also be able to see an ' Iceberg' which you are allowed to touch to experience the cold of that fateful night.
The attraction is open every day 9. 00am to 9. 00pm and the guided tours take place hourly on the hour. Admission is just over $20 with children approx $14.
If you would like to go shopping or even browsing in shops with a difference go to Festival Bay Mall. This Mall is open Monday to Saturday 10. 00am to 9. 00pm and Sundays 11. 00am to 7. 00pm and parking is free. Here you can find shops like Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, Ron Jon Surf Shop and many more. If you fancy a game of golf go at the indoor, glow in the dark Putting Edge Fun Center the girls love this and often go with Grandad leaving us to shop in peace. Cinema goers can enjoy some of the films in the Cinemark 20 Movie Theatres. There are also several restaurants at Festival Bay.
Little ones will enjoy a visit to McDonalds and the one on I Drive is reputed to be the largest play place in the world. They serve the usual McDonalds fare and are open 24 hours.
Ripley’s Believe It Or Not is a great place to visit if you want to see some amazing things. The building itself looks crazy enough but inside is even more so. You can guide yourself through sixteen galleries of an amazing variety of exhibits, artifacts and displays depicting the odd, bizarre and unbelievable!
They open at 9. 30am and stay open until Midnight, often visitors like to go here once the sun goes down in the evening. Admission is about $20 for adults and $12 for children and again parking is free.
For those crazy golf enthusiasts pay a visit to Pirate' s Cove. Here there are two 18-hole challenging adventure golf courses in a pirate themed setting. Play golf surrounded by waterfalls, mountain caves and wonderful landscaping.
These are just a very few things to do on IDrive I am sure you will find many more.
