Innoventions East at Epcot
Anybody that has entered Epcot via the main entrance (as opposed to the entrance from Disney’ Boardwalk between England and France) with the intention of heading for Test Track, Mission Space or Ellen’s Universe of Energy will pass through the Innoventions East Pavilion. However most will simply walk on by without stopping to enter the world of Innoventions which contains many informative and entertaining attractions. Innoventions West, on the other side of Innoventions Plaza, also contains informative and fun interactive exhibits, but here I will concentrate on what the East pavilion has to offer.
Innoventions East houses the following attractions:-
Storm Struck;
This is a 3D interactive show where you will experience the power and noise of a storm complete with thunder, lightening, wind and rain and then learn how to prepare your home and protect it from storm damage. The experience can be quite intense and parents with young children should be aware of this. However, a play area is available where children can learn to build a Storm Kit and parents can utilise the ‘child swap’ facility that Disney provide.
Don’t Waste It;
Sponsored by Waste Management this exhibit / game both entertains and educates your team about trash disposal. Your team first collect its mini trash truck and then progresses through the waste management process. The amount and type of trash is determined by a short questionnaire that you fill in, and you then ‘Sort it Out, ‘Fuel the Burn’ and ‘Landfill Up’ as you dispose of the trash in the best way possible, earning points along the way. Fun for all the family!
The Sum of All thrills;
The latest addition to Innoventions! Here, after a short introductory film, you use an interactive design board to create your own thrill ride. This may be a roller coaster, bobsleigh or jet airplane ride. But not only do you design it, you then get to ride it! The ride you create is loaded onto a credit card sized plastic card and you hand it to a cast member before entering your ‘car’, which is a pod on the end of a multi directional hydraulic arm. Once the door is shut, and the screen is just a few inches from your face, your ride begins! This can be very intense and should you find that you have designed something that is too frightening, or if you feel too claustrophobic, then you do have an emergency stop button.
Test the Limit Lab;
Become an engineer and test products in five interactive stations including the ‘Shatter Lab’, the ‘Impact Lab’ and the ‘Slam Lab’.
