Imperium Wine Bar Celebration
Imperium Wine Bar Celebration
If you like a good choice of wine and fancy something a little bit different for a light meal in a pleasant setting then the Imperium Wine Bar in Celebration could be a good place to try.
It is on Market Street in Celebration about half way down from the main road to the lake. You have the choice of sitting outside in Market Street, inside or outside at the back of the restaurant backing on to the car park. The décor is modern and a vast wall of bottles of wine dominates one side. They often have live entertainment from a singer or instrument player which makes for a very civilised ambience. The wine bar is owned by an ex stunt man who used to do the stunts for Pierce Brosnan in the Bond films. There is no mistaking him when he is there as the resemblance is striking so ladies make sure you sit where you have a good view!
Wines are grouped according to price starting at $6 a glass or $18 a bottle up to around $18 a glass, but it is great to have such a choice of glasses of wine, which makes sampling a much more attractive proposition. The waitresses all seem to be very knowledgeable and are happy to give advice. There is absolutely no pressure to go for the more expensive wines.
The food is bistro type. There are a range of soups, flatbreads, paninis, salads and sandwiches but they offer really original combinations and flavours. On our last visit I tried their YingYang salad with shrimp. The shrimp was cooked in a lightly spiced sauce and was very tasty and the dressing was home made, individual and delicious. The whole salad just looked so inviting and actually provided a substantial meal, at least by my standards. Perhaps it might be considered more of a snack by American standards but it does make a change for us to be able to clear our plates. The flatbreads are also wonderful with a variety of toppings and interesting dressings. They are so much lighter than a pizza and again the combinations of tastes are wonderful.
They do offer deserts but we haven' t managed one yet. They do look very inviting though. The coffee is good if you like it strong but if you don’t mention it and they will be happy to provide a weaker brew.
We have been there a few times now and we have always enjoyed whatever we have chosen. Prices are very reasonable too. If you go on a Sunday morning or lunch time you can sit and enjoy your wine and watch the people visiting the Farmers Market. It certainly increases the variety of options available in Celebration, which is one of our favourite places to sit and relax
