hot air balloons
I recently decided to take a hot air balloon ride. This was something I was very nervous about initially because I am very scared of heights. I was told that I would be fine and there was nothing to worry about.
Well we were up at the crack of dawn around 5. 30am. We drove to meet the hot air balloon people and met the rest of the group at an hotel on highway 192. We then were taken in a minibus to the site were the hot air balloons would be taking off. After helping the hot air balloon guys to get the ballon full of hot air we all then climbed into the basket and before we knew it we were up up and away.
At first I couldn't look over the side of the basket because of my fear of heights but eventually I did and I have to say I wasn't scared at all. It was as if were in a very safe and secure place but high up in the sky. I have to say it was a really wonderful feeling being above all the buildings and being able to see for miles. We bgan to gain height just as the sun was rising in the sky. We flew over celebration and some really nice communities. We also flew over lots of golf courses and headed towards Disney. I didn't know this at the time but apparently the direction you take is determined by the winds. We headed towards epcot theme park and could see all the other Disney theme parks like Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.
We actually got to a height of 1200 feet which was pretty impressive. After touring the them parks we then began heading towards US Highway 27. Again we flew over Reunion golf cfourse and some really beautiful conservation. We also managed to spot some Wild Deer. We came very close to all the pine trees and got a real good close up of the wildlife.
After this we set towards US Highway 27 and started to loose height. We were almost at the end of our flight and before landing in a large open field we flew over some more communties and waved to the people on the ground. Once we landed we all got out the basket and the balloon people cracked open a bottle of Champagne and toasted our success. Yes a truly wonderful experience that I would fully recommend to anyone.
