Horse World Riding Stables
If you have children or even adults that enjoy horse riding do try and spend some time at Horse World Riding Stables. These can be found just south of the Disney World Resort area situated at 3705 Poinciana Blvd, Kissimmee that is 12 miles south of the 192. Telephone 407 847 4343. It is usually better to phone ahead and you can be advised of the need for reservations.
You will find 750 acres of sandy trails that are used only for riding the horses. The trails are natural and undisturbed with you will see lots of wildlife roaming about.
According to your ability or needs you can choose from three different types of ride.
The Nature Trail Ride is a basic ride of about an hour where your horse walks through the woods. Anyone 5 and over can ride on their own horse, younger children under 5 can ride with their parent. This is a nice easy relaxing ride which is really a nature walk on horseback and costs approx $40 for adults with children under 6 paying $17.
The Intermediate Trail Ride is a guided trail with walking and trotting through the woods. This again takes an hour and is recommended for ages 10 and over with some riding experience. This ride includes walking and trotting and costs $48 for adults and children over 10 years of age.
For those with more riding experience that would like a more spirited ride there is the Advanced Trail Ride. This lasts up to one and half hours and you can walk, trot or canter, if you really know how to ride you WILL be allowed to really ride! This ride is by advance reservation only. I do not know the cost as when we went we just went on the Nature Trail and Intermediate Rides.
One of our girls enjoyed their Intermediate Trail Ride so much she asked for a private lesson whilst we were out there as her birthday present. You can choose from an hour or an hour and a half and she was taken out on the trails to see how the horse acted like a horse and how she could deal with him. She was also shown how to care for a horse and how to saddle and handle him to ensure a safe ride. There was even some training on horse’s most common ailments particularly with their feet and teeth. She came back a very happy girl with a much better understanding of horses.
I do not know how much this lesson cost as her Grandparents paid for it, I believe that group lessons are also available.
We had a lovely afternoon here, even my Mother, who does not ride, enjoyed it. She occupied herself whilst we were riding by sitting in the shade reading before browsing through the shop. She said it was one of the most relaxing days of her holiday!
