Hoop Dee Doo Show
We have never been to this show but friends of ours took their 11 year old daughter for her birthday and say they would highly recommend it both for the food and a great evenings entertainment.
Apparently this Review is one of the longest running shows running shows at Walt Disney World. There are 3 shows nightly, 5:00pm, 7:15pm, and 9:30pm. The shows last approximately 2 hours. Families with children tend to book the two earlier shows. The show is located in the Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness.
During 2006 you make your reservation for any time during that year. However reservations for 1st January 2007 and beyond can now only be confirmed 180 days prior to your requested date. Tables are assigned in the order in which reservations are made. There is two-tiered seating: the main floor and upstairs in the balcony. Shows can sell out during busy times of the year. We are going to make our reservation the full six months in advance as we have other friends who reserved quite late and were seated towards the back of the main floor. Although the upstairs balcony is obviously further away from the stage, apparently if you are seated near the front of the gallery the view is very good.
Admission cost is approx $50 for adults and $25 for children 3-9. Full payment is required at time of booking, however should you give at least 48 hours notice of cancellation you get a full refund.
To get there you can drive, take the boat from the Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge or Magic Kingdom or take a bus from the Ticket and Transportation Centre. I think we will take the boat, as this really is part of the Disney Magic for me.
The dinner is waiter served and our friend’s waiters were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble.
The meal is all you can eat and my friends saw several tables take doggy bags home! For starters they had Tossed Salad and a Loaf of bread and honey butter. The main meal included delicious Fried Chicken, Louisiana Style Smoked Pork Ribs, Corn on the Cob and Homemade Country Style Baked Beans. Our friend’s son was a fussy eater so he was given pizza, hot dogs and macaroni and cheese, needless to say he was delighted. Strawberry Shortcake followed this.
Also included with the meal were limitless Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Root Beer, Sprite, Orange, Lemonade, Fresh Brewed Iced Tea, Apple Juice, Milk, Chocolate Milk, Draft Bud-light, Chardonnay, White Zinfandel, Sangria, and Merlot. Other beers had to be paid for but were reasonably priced.
The show was on quite a small stage and lots of volunteers were asked for. While they enjoyed their dinner good old fashion country and western singers, dancers and comedians entertained them. You will need to be prepared for slapstick, corny jokes and lots of singing and dancing.
During the show the performers visited every table and my friends daughter also got a special mention for her birthday.
I hope we enjoy it as much as they did when we visit next year.
