Holyland Experience - Orlando
We had the pleasure of visiting the Holy Land Experience on our most recent visit to the Orlando area and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We purchased our discounted tickets through this site and found the discount ticket service to be very competitive in pricing. The ticket company was a complete pleasure to work with, as well as expeditious in their delivery times.
As Bible believing Christians we found this attraction to be extremely interesting as well as enriching to our personal faith. My husband comes from a Jewish background, and it was doubly a treat for him. He was encouraged as he viewed the both the Jerusalem Model and the re-enactment of the “high priest” as he blew the Shofar and made “burnt offering” sacrifices on behalf of the people of Israel. We all enjoyed walking through the market place and watching the many skits which re-enacted events in Biblical times.
We were told that the “cast members” are professing Christians and must all ascribe to the Holy Land Experience Statement of Faith. They represent several different Bible believing Evangelical Churches from the area.
Each cast member is dressed in appropriate fashion according to historical Biblical times. This helped to create an authentic feeling. It felt just like we were there in Jerusalem in the days when Jesus walked with His disciples.
The Scriptorium was definitely the highlight of the day for our family. We were amazed to view the priceless collection of original papyrus writings and Bibles. The display of Christian writings from “giants” of the Christian faith such as: John Wycliffe (Bible translator), and John Bunyon’s (the first edition of Pilgrim’s Progress), as well as sermons from John Calvin & Charles H. Spurgeon were incredible.
We had a wonderful time in the excellent bookstore at the end of the tour as well. There is a wealth of books available by many great Christian writers such as John Piper, John MacArthur, James MacDonald, Irwin Lutzer, R.C. Sproul and many, many more. In addition, there are beautiful prints available of the Scriptorium paintings of several Bible characters such as Isaiah, Paul, John and Moses.
Just as “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, I am certain that the Holy Experience will be a wonderful experience for some as well as a disappointment for others. However, for those who share our faith, or a love for history and learning, I highly recommend a visit during your holiday in the Orlando area.
